Let’s Celebrate Pride
While everyone loves to brag about living in New York City, the realities of settling here can be less than glamorous. Recognizing that NYC can be a lonely and challenging place, Dave Ethan and Pete Adrian decided to open The Grey Dog. Their intention wasn't solely to build a business, but to create a home. We aren’t just inviting you for the food (even if our omelet is worth writing home about, but then again, we’re biased!). We’re inviting you into a space where you can truly relax and be yourself!
As Pride Month begins, we continue to encourage this message of hospitality and openness.New York City holds a profound history with Pride, especially in relation to restaurants. In June 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in Greenwich Village. In an era where simply being gay in a bar or restaurant was against the law, Stonewall offered crucial refuge. During the raid, staff members and those within the community fought back, fighting to maintain a space that welcomed those within the LGBTQ+ community.
A year later, the first Pride Parade began, a tradition that continues today! Our Carmine location began just around the corner from the Stonewall Inn, and the Pride Parade passes in front of our Chelsea location every year! Our mission has always been to cultivate a restaurant where everyone feels comfortable unwinding and being authentic, aiming to truly be a friend to the neighborhood. Happy Pride!
Founders Event
We're thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with Founders Brewing Company! As the official beer of the Michigan Wolverine Football team, and with Grey Dog’s deep Michigan roots, this is a partnership we're excited to be a part of.
To give everyone an excuse to drink Founders beer, we'll be hosting a BINGO Happy Hour on June 26th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at our Chelsea location. We'll be giving away a variety of goodies, including Founders Brewing Company merchandise, Founders beer, Grey Dog swag, and gift cards! Come hang out with us and sample some of the finest brews from Founders!
Cartoonist
Part of Grey Dog's distinct interior design comes from the amazing artists that display their work in our restaurants. We partner with artists from all over, enhancing the individual character of each Grey Dog location! From June 11th to August 31st, we're thrilled to be able to highlight the work of Richard Feldmann, a cartoonist for the New Yorker Magazine, the Princeton University Press, and other publications. This show will be on the walls of The Grey Dog Chelsea, and we can’t wait for you to see it!
Father’s Day
After highlighting Mother’s Day, it seems only fair that Father’s Day should also receive a spotlight! Whether you're honoring your dad(s), a stepdad, or experiencing your first Father's Day, we want to help make it special. Join us in celebrating you or your wonderful dad this Father's Day!
