Brunch at The Grey Dog | Flowers, Coffee, Avocado Toast

With as long of a history as ours, it should come as no surprise that we have witnessed the start of many relationships. With a little less than two weeks until Valentine's Day, Dave Ethan, one of the owners, wanted to share a little note with all of you:

"I have 29 years of special memories, but sometimes it slips my mind that we are serving up something much more important than just food and drinks. The other day, I received a poignant reminder of what The Grey Dog means to one long-time customer, now living abroad. Her 16-year-old child drew a picture of a GD coffee mug as a gift for her dad's birthday. That picture speaks volumes. Then I remembered a few weeks back, when Josh, a long-time regular and friend, visited our Columbus Circle location. He looked a little beat up; he had just picked up his daughter from Brown University, hours after a shooting. He said, "Dave, every important decision my family has ever made has been at The Grey Dog." His story sent shivers down my spine and, at the same time, warmed my soul. There are thousands of Grey Dog stories, and so many of them have love and family as the central theme. We've had hundreds of first dates here that have led to marriages. I hear those stories all the time! Over forty couples who met working here have gone on to get married, and in fact, one such couple is working here now and about to have a baby. So it got me thinking about how fitting it would be to collect as many of these stories as possible—and what better holiday than Valentine's Day to gather them?"
